WEBMASTER NOTE:
The daughter of Mr. Burtrum has threatened a law suit and has demanded
that her name and images be removed from her father's Tribute
"...I also want my photograph(s) taken off immediately... As well as my name... And that of my half-brother...You not only have my request...
You have my disdain for having done so without having asked my permission on the front end...
If you publish this on the Internet,
I will haul your ass into a court of law so fast you will think a *tornado blew into your face as well as into your *billfold.
You are a damn fool... What a damn, ridiculous thing to write!
I will be discussing this matter with THE ELECTRONIC FRONTIER FOUNDATION,
'Look 'em up - they just won a $1.8 million dollar judgement'
which defends digital rights as well as an 'Intellectual Property Attorney' regarding this matter."

M.B. -

You STOLE 'MY' name for YOUR website.

You stole 'MY' photographic image for YOUR website.

You never asked for permission - and it certainly was NOT given.

(Merely messing-with-my-face in the pictures is NOT removing it!)

You lie and say 'my name, photo & letter' have been removed from ' your website, when they have not.

You authorized the stealing of MY Bio / MY Writing about MY Father - ' then had it added to your website as though you had authored it.

(I've removed all biographies so this will NOT happen again!)

Then, to cover-your-tracks, you authorize the changing of a few ' words in the presentation -- which does not make it an origional' composition / writing.

Its called STEALING -- it makes you a THIEF - do you understand?

All of this was and is MINE - you took it without permission and ' continue to use it.

Do you notice a series of WRONGS here?

Do you really think your deeds deserve a kindness?

What has made you this way?

Who do you associate with that colors you way of thinking?

Do you not recognize a hateful pattern in your actions and lifestyle ' - a delight in causing unrest and ill will?

Why do you persist in this warped manner? This is absolutely SICK!

Somehow, with your short memory, you then write MY Husband and ask ' him to do a task for YOU regarding your nephew!

Are you NUTS or have you simply grown into a THOUGHTLESS, WICKED ' PERSON?

Leave us alone.

You do nothing but harm towards me and my family - and we want ' nothing to do with ' you> .~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Over the years, Joe worked haerd and tirelessly gave back to all his family,

Joe's funeral service was conducted at the First Baptist Church in downtown Joplin, Mo.

A trio of ministers volunteered to speak at his memorial as he had been so endeared to each of them.

As a 'quirk-of-fate' or perhaps it was 'Devine Intervention', as the casket was being taken from the sanctuary,
the huge church bell was rang 60 times in celebration of Joe's birthday as well as his passing

Upon the ringing of the 60th or final ring, the giant, century old bell fell from it's cradle, crashing to the belfry's floor...
cracking... never to ring... never to speak again!

There were so many people from Joe's hometown awaiting the arrival of the hearse at Greenwood Cemetery

Many loved ones and well wishers were not able to attend the Joplin service due to the overflowing service,
that the family allowed the casket to be reopend and a second funeral' was conducted at the family gravesite.

Records at both First Baptist Church as well as the officiating funeral home,
cited that Joseph Harold Burtrum had the largest funeral they had ever conducted.

Hi Dollar' Joe Burtrum

The 'nickname' sandblasted into his tombstone is "Hi Dollar Joe"

Joe graduated first in his class at the Reisch School of Auctioneering.

In 1947 Joe had the first and largest auto auction for many decades in conjunction with his numerous automobile business's

Joe was the founder of the Burtrum Brothers Motor Company

Joe was also very well known for donating his auctioneering talents to hundreds of small schools throughout the 4-State area.

Joe did "Pie Suppers" almost every weekend of his adult life to help ailing member's of the community to many
area churches, groups, clubs and numerous other association fundraisers

Joe was the Master of Ceremony for a variety of fund raisers for charities like the annual Fall Festival in Webb City, etc...

Joe Burtrum was an outstanding and very creative automobile dealer.

He was equally known as an outstanding self-taught, public speaker capabilities.

It has been said that he could... "he could sell brass knuckels to Ghandi"

He was a noteable personality regarding his varied advertising in the Four State Area, presenting his own radio and TV spots.

His years of full-page newspaper ads for his businesses won several national awards.

Joe had a speaker topped sound truck and was at the head of hundreds of parades.

Joe Burtrum has been referenced in publications about 'Route 66' as one of the great personalities of "America's Main Street"

He was so popular students on their "Senior Trip" would stop their bus, line up to meet get a photo and his autograph!

1911, CHEVROLET IS BORN...

After leaving GM in 1910, Billy Durant started yet another new car company in cooperation with the most famous of his former Buick race car drivers, Louis Chevrolet, who had emigrated to the U.S. from Switzerland.
With Louis giving his name to the brand and Billy in charge of management and product development, the first Chevrolet car, the Classic Six, priced at $2,500, was a market failure . . .
but Durant remained undaunted in his hopes for the brand.
DETAILS OF THE CHEVROLET...
Louis Chevrolet was born on Christmas Day, 1878 in Switzerland. As a teenager, he was a guide for a local wine cellar. An early account said he was impatient with the slow decanting of wine from cask to cask so he invented a wine barrel pump that speeded the process and was used extensively in the Burgundy region for decades. Later, like many another figure in the automobile world, he started manufacturing bicycles, also inventing a machine to make tires. Then he served an apprenticeship in the budding automobile industry in France, coming to the United States in 1900 as the representative of a French motor manufacturer.
Chevrolet began a career in auto racing in 1905 and his performance over the years earned him a reputation among his generation’s elite. However, he attained his greatest distinction as an engineer and designer of both stock and racing cars.
In 1911, he organized the Chevrolet Motor Company and headed the concern until 1915. He was working with Billy Durant, who had just lost control of General Motors, and the year after Chevrolet dropped out of his namesake company, Durant regained control temporarily of General Motors and took the Chevrolet company into the fold.
Inventor, racing-car builder, and above all, the early speed king who boasted that Barney Oldfield only beat him once “when my car broke down,” Chevrolet was buried at Indianapolis. That is where he won the distinction of having two of the distinction of having two of the cars he built win successively, in 1920 and 1921, the 500-mile speedway classic. He was buried beside his brother Gaston, who swept to victory in the 1920 race and was killed six months later in a speedway crash in Los Angeles.
His name on millions of automobiles, Louis Chevrolet, greatest of the pioneer racing car drivers, dies in comparative obscurity Friday morning, June 6, 1941 in his home in Detroit.
In a letter to "Mr. Chevrolet" Pinky Randall in 1966, former GM board of directors member Charles Stewart Mott reminisced about his friend Louis Chevrolet saying:
"He was driving from Detroit to Flint one day and going through Royal Oak, a constable stopped him and took him to Court for exceeding the speed limit. During the examination, the Judge asked him what his name was and he replied 'Louis Chevrolet.' The Judge said, '$20.00 fine. $10 for speeding and $10 for assuming the name of a noted race driver'."
Comparative obscurity indeed.

Personal Statement From Webmaster & Curator...

"Being related to Joe Harold Burtrum is somewhat astonishing to me as I have heard and seen the proof of this man's
dedication to his businesses, employees, patrons, family and friends.

The way he over exaggerated his style of promotion, the over saturation of the market, the way he made someone a deal
when it wasn't that profitable to him, but in Joe Burtrum's eyes... It was the right thing to do at the time.

I suspect my endeavors in marketing, promotions and advertising has trickled down through the veins of the Burtrum blood
and has had to help mold me into one of the most successful advertising, newspaper and internet creator's of my age,
in the four state area and beyond!

I have jokingly said that I have sold thousands of dollars in advertising during my morning visit to the porcelain god,
if advertising and marketing is in your blood, you constantly live, think and breath promotion...
Much like Joe Burtrum did in his heyday,
I just wish I would have been old enough to have been taken under his wing' and taught by the Master of Promotion...
and I find myself very Proud to be a living relative of Joe Harold Burtrum!

Little Hi Dollar Joe says...
"The more cars a fellow buys and sells the cheaper you can handle them.
If we don't have or can't get the car you want, they just don't make it.
The best new and used car bargains in the Midwest!"
My Daddy just won't let anyone outsell or undersell him, come see the proof!
