MISSION CHURCH
Northeast of Grove and east of Highway 10. Built by Mathias Splitlog and dedicated in 1896. No admission.
GENERAL STAND WAITE GRAVE SITE
The last Confederate General to surrender during the Civil War is buried in the Polson Cemetary located southeast of Grove. Waite was the only full-blooded native American to receive the rank of Brigadier General during the Civil War. No admission.
DELAWARE HISTORICAL MUSEUM
One block north of Highway 10 & 59, on 6th Street in Jay Exhibits include Native American artifacts, a barber shop and country store. No admission.
LENDONWOOD GARDEN
Located one mile west of Main Street on Har-Ber Road, Lendonwood Garden is one of ten botanical gardens in the state of Oklahoma and is a National Display Garden for the American Hamerocallis Society. The garden features the third largest collection of azalias in the state, the largest collection of chamaecyparis trees in the nation, and the largest collection of rhododendrons in the Midwest. No admission is charged but donations are accepted. Open year around during the day light hours.
SATSUKI GARDEN
Located at 2209 South Main Street behind the dentist office, this garden contains the three essential elements of Japanese landscaping... plants, water and stone. There is no admission.
HAR-BER VILLAGE ANTIQUE MUSEUM
and NEW ECOLOGY CENTER
Three miles west of Grove off Main Street on Har-Ber Road, the village has grown into one of the largest antique museums in the United States. Built as a gift to the traveling public by Harvey and Bernice Jones, the museum is a reconstructed turn of the century village with over 100 buildings filled with collections of all types.
The Village Nature Trail makes it easy to enjoy the area's natural environment, great for an enjoyable walk in the wild, complete with blacktopped portions that provide access for the handicapped. The Grand Lake Audubon Society welcomes visitor's to their meetings and field trips. There is no admission charge and is open March 1 through November 15 from 9am to 6pm Monday through Saturday and 11am to 6pm on Sundays.
THE MAN WHO RAN
An outstanding live dramatization of the biblical account of Jonah, Jesus and the Great Fish performed live at the Picture In Scripture Amphitheater in Disney, shows on Friday and Saturday nights June 25 to August 28 3 miles east and 1 mile north of Disney off SH28. Admission.
PELICAN SIGHTINGS
Visit Grand Lake from mid to late September and early October through November, to view the migrating white pelicans, it is suggested you do the viewing from a distance.
The American White Pelican migrates to Grand Lake O' The Cherokees to feed in the fall. The Pelican Festival is intended to promote appreciation and enjoyment of this beautiful bird and information concerning fish and wildlife while having fun.The pelican is a large white bird with a large bill and yellow throat pouch. In flight, its black wing patches are conspicuous and its head and neck form an "S" curve. The adult weighs 10 to 17 pounds and can have a wingspan of 9 1/2 feet. The pelican feeds on gizzard shad and other non-game fish.
You can use binoculars to get a close-up view of the birds without scaring them.
Or if you are in a boat, you can turn off the motor and drift near the birds and watch them fly around you.
